Guardians of the Galaxy 2 review

So I wanted to give a few thoughts on GOTG2, which I saw today.

There WILL be spoilers. If you read beyond this, it's your own fault. So if you don't want to know about it stop reading

Okay, here's the deal: I liked it a lot. Like 4 out of 5 stars. I liked the revelation on who the villain was. I thought Kurt Russell was EXCELLENT as Ego the living planet. I liked that the ending was a kick ass all or nothing battle between Starlord and his dad throwing cosmic energies around, that's the way it SHOULD be! I really liked all the family stuff going on, including Nebula and her insanity. I REALLY liked Zoe Saldana in this one. I'm usually about half and half with her. Her Uhura leaves me dry. But here she's excellent as Gamora.

The humor was a little bit too much at times, but overall it was okay. I liked Mantis, but she's NOT our Mantis. It's some alien chick and not the Vietnamese martial artist who becomes the Celestial Madonna.

And here is my problem with this movie. There are classic marvel characters represented, but not the way we know them. Since when did Star Hawk (Stakar, or Sylvester Stallone in this case)become a common thief? How did Ayesha (Her, from Marvel Two in One, the second creation of the Enclave, who created Warlock.) come before Warlock? And how is she the one responsible for creating him? And why is she leading an entire world of the same kind of creatures? (Yes, at the end we see his cocoon, and she says 'I will name him 'Adam.') I don't like the way the original Guardians were represented. That irked me. No costumes, just leather jackets, and they're going to 'go steal something?' I've had enough of that, at this point.  That's not the Guardians I knew and really liked a lot. Those are my Guardians, not these guys. But all in all, it was a good, fun action packed flick and a winner. I really liked it beyond my minor complaints
